LEXI MARIE is a prolific poet and vocalist currently based out of Lillooet BC, who combines the essence of soul and folk with an R&B kiss. Influenced by strong female artists like Mavis Staples, and Lauryn Hill, Lexi draws from her struggles and vulnerabilities, making a point of delivering bold, and honest messages of strength and resilience to defeat. When she sings it’s like a sunrise, something to look forward to, bringing light to even the darkest of days.

A self taught multi instrumentalist and poet, Uschi Tala draws inspiration from the Earth its creatures, and the light found within the darkness. Using a looping pedal and various instruments including beats produced by mouth or machine she creates ambient soundscapes each layer telling its own tale, her lyrics embody an ocean of healing and encourage others to sea the radiance in themselves as well as the bigger picture.

MUTYA MACATUMPAG
(moo-cha maca-toom-pag) experiments with a mini keyboard, looping, audio sampling and guitalele creating a collage of sound landscapes. A vibrato compared to that of Tracy Chapman, Mutya’s voice evokes an ancient remembering, an ancestral stir of emotion that trancends time and grace.

RUPERT COMMON is an Interdisciplinary performance artist and Hip Hop facilitator based out of Vancity, on the Salish Coast of Bee Sea. His live performances involve a blend of guitar, beat-box and electronic drum machine, over which he raps, sings, speaks and dances. He is working hard to produce his first album, hone in on a street busking schtick, and create a new batch of video art.

“JILLIAN CHRISTMAS was born and raised in Markham, Ontario. She currently lives on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam people (Vancouver, BC.), where she serves as Artistic Director of Versəs Festival of Words. Jillian is an enthusiastic organizer and activist in the Canadian arts community, her focus being to increase anti-oppression initiatives in spoken word. She has participated in, developed and executed programs in partnership with Toronto Poetry Project, Wordplay, Brendan McLeod’s Travelling Slam, University of British Columbia, Vancouver Opera, and the CULTCH Mentorship, and facilitated spoken word workshops for youth and adults across the country.”

Dubbed ‘The Voice’ by the late, great Zaccheus Jackson, Chelsea brings healing lyrical content and raw vocal power to every performance whether it be on a stage before thousands or busking on the streets of where she calls home. A seasoned veteran of the Western Canadian Music Festival scene Chelsea embarks on her ninth music festival season June of 2016.

Kimmortal is an emcee, visual artist, and performer living on Coast Salish territory aka Vancouver. Her acoustic soul and rap album “sincerity” was released in 2014 and she is currently working to fuse her art and music into an upcoming project. aly & josh are two tenderqueer filipemos whose collective art practice is based upon friendship and trusting their impulses. together they create visceral multi-media pieces that incorporate movement, film, sounds. their process consists of lots of experimentation, spontaneous low-key adventures, and snacks.
PURPLE HEARTS SOCIAL CLUB
Purple Hearts Social Club came together from the Team Danger family and are inspired by a very special little girl; Phoenix Ryland Del Rosario or as some know her, Baby Danger. This little girl fought with bravery and courage against leukemia for almost 2 years. Tragically, she ascended to her true form just 2 months shy of her 5th birthday on October 12, 2012.
Mimi Danger is her mom (or “mimi” as she would call her) and Jillthy, NikiNice and Yex Lee her ninangs (or god-mothers in english). Phoenix loved to dance and have fun and it is through their music that they spread her message of strength, bravery and love.
