Grab A Paddle- Stop Site C Vancouver

July 9, 2016- 12:30 pm

On July 9th, grab a paddle and help us show the Federal government that the Lower Mainland opposes Site C and stands in solidarity with the Treaty 8 First Nations! Join us on land or in the water, carrying a paddle if you have one, to march along Kits Beach and add your voices to the opposition to the dam! We will meet at Vanier Park, on unceded Coast Salish territories, at 12:30.

You may have heard of the Site C dam, an $8.8 billion environmental disaster which violates First Nations Treaty Rights, threatens thousands of hectares of rich agricultural land, and endangers the beautiful Peace River Valley. Right now, we have an exciting opportunity to put pressure on Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, to reject the fisheries permits which would allow this dam to go ahead.

If you have a kayak or a canoe, please register here (http://goo.gl/forms/Q8hkKsIEDOTxN29L2), and arrive at 12 noon in order to have time to launch.

What: March and flotilla to oppose the Site C Dam
When: July 9th, 12:30 pm
Where: Unceded Coast Salish Territories, Vanier Park

If you aren’t able to make the event, please show your support for Treaty 8 First Nations by donating to the court cases through RAVEN –http://raventrust.com/no-site-c-grab-a-paddle/.

Don’t forget to come out to the Paddle for the Peace Vancouver Launch Party on June 28 – https://www.facebook.com/events/957439111042956/!
