Please register for the event: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/isokan-black-community-open-forum-tickets-29342703817

This event takes place on the traditional, unceded, occupied territories of the səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

“Iṣọkan” is the Yoruba word literally translated to meaning “Of One mind”. The Iṣọkan Open Forum is a space for those of African descent or that identify as Black, to come together and begin to imagine a vision for the community in Metro Vancouver. This Open Forum is a safe space to express personal reflections on the needs of the community and share your hopes for the future.

As a part of this forum you will have an opportunity to hear from the City of Vancouver and their plans to remove the viaducts and the associated mandate to recognize Hogan’s Alley in the new plan for the area. You will also hear from the esteemed Wayde Compton, who will give us a brief history of Hogan’s Alley.

This is your opportunity to connect and learn from other members of the black community and develop a shared vision on building our collective identity and organizing for change.
