Intro to LGBT Prison Abolition: Workshop and Resource Mailout
March 12, 2017- 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Visiting members of the Prisoner Correspondence Project invite you to come participate in this two part workshop that will give context on the current state of the prison industrial complex and seek out concrete ways of resisting from outside.
The first part of this workshop will consist of a brief (30-40 min) introduction to the topic, outlining the specific issues facing queer and trans people in prison, highlight the widespread difficulties of isolation, mailroom censorship, and sexual surveillance they face, and share strategies and experiences from inside and outside members organizing in solidarity and toward prison abolition.
The second part will be a hands on component where participants willinteract directly with our inside members by sending them requested resources that will be on hand and respond to letters and queries.
+++All are welcome – no prior knowledge of prison activism/abolition required+++ FREE (Accepting donations to cover mail and print costs)
